She was born on March 29 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle Mendoza has been her birth name. Gerina Stevenson's parents include Mexican Alan Stevenson & Rita Stevenson. She has Mexican origins, however she is American in nationality. She has always been an avid sportsperson. Gerina started playing golf when she was fifteen. Gerina completed her high school education through Goddard High School. As a high school student, Gerina won her first prize at the New Mexico golf state tournament. Along with playing volleyball, she also competed at an official level. At the age of 2003, she enrolled at the University of Texas. In her senior year she was the winner of every competition she entered. In her time at college she was awarded an award called the Conference USA Player of The Year award and the Female UTEP Sports Athletics Award.
